Toward Zero Waste at the Small Fruit Conference was a phenomenal success!
At this 400 person event, we diverted TEN 68 gallon bins of organics to be composted by Green Earth Technology, sending only four bins to the landfill. Next year we can do even better - about half of the landfill waste was plastic-lined coffee cups. An easy fix.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of our TZW Team: Rebekah Snodgrass, Jean Andresen, Barbara King, Grace Cisneros, Ken Malseed and Pat Watkins, who devoted hours to moderating bins, busing plates, and sorting through the organics collection to ensure it was not contaminated with plastics. Amazing work, all. A wonderful way to end 2015.
